Textile course

Ever since I completed my C&G diploma course with the Kemshalls I have been looking around for something to continue with. Thanks to a posting on the C&G Yahoo group I found the Open College for the Arts and I enrolled with them for the BA Hons Textile degree program. It will take a couple of years before I have completed all the courses I want to take :-). One of the requirements is to have a learning blog for the course work. In the right side bar you will find the link to this blog. If it is quiet on this blog, check out there what I am up to.

Sky is the Limit quilt

The present theme for the Sky-is-the-Limit group is: being inspired by. I am not yet telling you all who the painter is who inspired me, but this is the beginning of my quilt. The silk has been painted with different textiles dyes, my favorite Lumiere and Setacolor. If you want to guess who inspired me, feel free. The lucky winner will win a price :-).

apc's

It is nice to divide my attention between projects. One of the things I like to do besides quilting is to make atc's or apc's (Artist Trading Cards or Altered Playing Cards). Here are some examples of the apc's I made the last week. For these I used napkins, bees wax and collaged paper.

Beacon of light

And another quilt for Pam's class has been finished. This time the theme was about contrast in scale. I wanted to create the atmosphere of a say November night, coming home from work in the dark, only darkness but at the destination there is a small spot of light visible. Maybe a bit spooky or depressive, but I think the theme worked out rather well. Size is 20"x21", must have goofed up somewhere in measuring :-)
