working in series

I am taking several on line classes at the moment - yeah overlapping in time - about working in series and when something like this happens, the subject pops up everywhere. Even in Pam's class - which is actually not on working in series, a series developed :-) Here are some starting points for tree quilts.

At the moment they are only pinned or glued, so maybe I will make some changes to them. And no doubt more will follow :-). All tops are 12"x12".

SAQA

My quilt collection keeps growing :-). I also managed to buy this one:
It is made by Tiziana Tateo - an Italian artist I have not heard off before - and is called 'Alice'.

another SAQA quilt

This is the 2nd week of the SAQA auction and again I was lucky:-). I placed the winning bid for this quilt called 'Fruit' created by  Carol Howard Donati. When you check out her other work, you will notice that she uses those plastic thingies more often.
Next week the final part of this year's auction is there. Will I be able to get another quilt?

new classes

Lately I have not been very creative and the best way for me to get out of a situation like that is to take an on line class. Actually I started with two different ones. The first one is one given by Pamela Allen. Yes, I have taken more classes of her, guess I am addicted :-). For the first lesson we had to focus on a painting and rework this into fabric. I decided to work with a detail of David Hockney's  Garrowby Hill. My version turned out like this:
The next step was to use the same colors and create a different scene. I added some extra colors and it turned out into these giraffs:
At the moment the pieces are hold together by glue stick only. Stitching will follow later. Both have the size of 12"x12".
This month's theme for Sky is Road Maps and I think that I will use the first one for this challenge.

SAQA auction

I have not blogged for some time, simply because I had nothing to show. Adding labels and sleeves to quilts does not really give interesting pictures :-). But what I can show you is what I bought at the SAQA auction. Since this evening I am the proud owner of Jamie Fingal's "Bliss":
The SAQA auction started on September 10 and will last till September 29. After that there will be the auction sale at IQF Houston which starts on October 31 - and one of my quilts will be there.
With a bit of luck I can show you one or more other quilts as I plan to make more bids the coming weeks.
