Composition in blue

For Sky is the limit the theme for August was blue(s).Well as this is my favorite color, it was not very difficult to find fabric for it :-). Finding a title is more difficult. For the moment I am calling it Composition in blue. Not a very creative title for this quilt, but that is all I can come up with for now :-).  Background is a mixture of dark blue pieces of fabric. For the lighter figures on top I looked into the field of symbols like earth goddess, stars - ever lasting life, water = birth of new life.

mixed media

Here are 2 small canvas boards which I completed recently. Different materials have been used on both of them. Size of each one is 6"x6" (15x15 cm) and they are for sale. Check out Galleriba. If you are not familiair with this site, grab a cup of coffee and browse around. Lots of small art for the wall is available there.

textured circles

A couple of months ago I made this circle quilt but I could not show it to you at that time. I had promised my friend Kelly that I would be one of her guest this month on the Fire blog. This week the different techniques have been posted on this blog so now I can show you the quilt here as well. Check out the separate posts of this week to see how I made the circles. Title is 'Textured Circles' and the size is 12"x24".

And as it is Friday I am linking this post to Nina-Marie's  Off the Wall Friday as well.

quilting

Lately I have been rather quiet, but that was because I had nothing to show you. I was working on bindings, sleeves, labels and that kind of stuff. In other words nothing interesting. But this week I started quilting on a new quilt. A big one! Size is roughly 40"x40" and it is a wholecloth. The fabric for it I dyed somewhere late autumn last year.
As you can see I use Golden paper. This way I know that at the end my design will still be the same size as when I started it :-)

After the quilting the paper has to be removed. This is rather a tedious job, but in combinationn with a good movie doable :-).

Blue moon

During June I created a number of sun prints. For this one I used a mixture of Lumiere textilepaint and Setacolor transparant. The white circle was created by ironing a piece of freezer paper on it. As you see, there was some leakage under the paper.

By adding a bit more blue/black I could cover part of the area, but not enough.

At the bottom and the left side that was okay for me, but I wanted a smoother line at the left side. So I added white paint to the circle.

Now I have started with the quilting. This will be a slow process as it actually a bit warm to quilt. My studio has a flat roof and the temperature in there can easily reach 80 degrees F. or higher.
Sometimes it is difficult to find a name for a quilt, but this one had its name from the beginning. It will be one of my circle quilts and the name will be Blue Moon.
