Old work

We all have work that for some reason we are not satisfied with. I have a couple of canvasses with little quilts on it which I made a couple of years and knew that they needed more. Here is a picture of one of them:

Yesterday I decided to apply some paint on to it. I used a combination of 3 different Golden fluid acrylics and now it looks like this:

Not certain if it is completed now, but it looks better :-).

old work

As I wrote in this post I had cut up an old class sample and attached it to a canvas. Not certain at that time whether it was now complete or not, I kept it in my studio and had a look at it now and then

I sampled both washers and beads, but neither option appealed to me. Luckily I had not yet thrown away the remnants of the block and I decided to free the plastic strips of it. These I glued to the canvas, covered everything with a layer of gel medium and let it dry. This time I am satisfied and I can say that it is finished :-).

Old work

Many years ago I took a class in which plastic strips - plastic bags cut into strips - were used. I ended up with a small quiltlet which did not even get a sleeve. It ended up in a pile somewhere in my studio. Okay it is not a fun task, but now and then I have to clean up and that is how I came across this quilt again. I decided to cut it up and see what I could do with it. The size is now 7"x7".  With cotton perle I blanket stitched the edges.

I painted a 12"x12" canvas and put some cheesecloth over it while I was doing that. This way the canvas gets a textured look. With glue I attached the quilt to it. Maybe it needs a bit more, I am not certain, but it is looking better.
