Winterblues

For Sky-is-the-Limit the theme for this month was Winterblues. Although winter is not my favorite season, I am happy with the quilt I could make with this theme.  I took the theme quite literally as you can see :-).
For the background I used torn strips of fabric placed at random over and next to each other. With my Cameo Silhouette I cut the text out of freezer paper. There is a learning curve with this cutter, I have to say. Have to practise a lot more to get the hang of this machine. The text was placed on top of the fabric, ironed and painted. The trees I cut out of pounded fabric. Quilting was done using a simple design.
As it is a Friday today I am posting this to Nina-Marie's Off the Wall Friday's.

I like this piece very much, Wil -- especially the pieced background and the trees. You've captured the blue dawns of this season beautifully.

I like the color of the trees contrasted with the blues.

You certainly have captured the winter blues mood. The silver lettering is a nice touch.
