and again sunprinting

Yesterday was again a beautiful day, sunny with no wind. Too good not to do some more sun printing. Here are some of the results:

cheesecloth on Setacolor opaque and transparent

 sarans wrap on Setacolor transparent

grasses on Setacolor transparent

Sun printing

One of my favorite techniques for summer is sun printing. Till now I used setacolors for it, but on the Fire blog I saw pictures of fabric which has been printed with regular paints. As we are low on setacolor at the moment (I am staying with my friend), we decided to use Lumiere paints. Here are some of the results I got:

freezer paper circle in combination with wrinkled fabric

 cheesecloth

plastic doilies
My favorite one of this printing session is the top one. If you read my blog on a regular base, you know that I am working with circles. This one will be one of them:-)

Old work

Many years ago I took a class in which plastic strips - plastic bags cut into strips - were used. I ended up with a small quiltlet which did not even get a sleeve. It ended up in a pile somewhere in my studio. Okay it is not a fun task, but now and then I have to clean up and that is how I came across this quilt again. I decided to cut it up and see what I could do with it. The size is now 7"x7".  With cotton perle I blanket stitched the edges.

I painted a 12"x12" canvas and put some cheesecloth over it while I was doing that. This way the canvas gets a textured look. With glue I attached the quilt to it. Maybe it needs a bit more, I am not certain, but it is looking better.

Fill in the blancs

I have to admit that I have not been very creative the last couple of weeks. But this is a quilt which I did:

The theme for May for the Sky group was: fill in the blancs. And as you can see I took this theme literally :-).
It should not be very hard to find the complete quote. As usually all the fabrics which I used are my own hand dyed ones. The quilting design is a simple one.
