So many things going on in my life that I completely forgot to show you the block for June. Yes, the color for this month was blue :-). It is not a surprise that this is another funky log cabin block and that the size is 9"x9". All fabrics used are either handdyed or handpainted. And some additional yarn is stiched on the block.

March block
A new month means this year time for a new block. The color this month was green and I used an other variation of a log cabin for it. The log cabin will be used in every block this year. By the end of the year I intend to combine the blocks to a big top and I dont want to have a sampler :-)'.
What I will be doing with it at that time will be something different, but that is not something I will blog about now.

yellow
In continuation of my previous post her is my block for February. As you can see this months color is yellow. Chosen because winter is almost over and daffodils are beginning to pop up :-) This block is a variation of last month's only this time I made 4 small blocks before stitching them together. The colors you see here are actually the only yellow hand dyed ones I owe. In fabric this is not my favorite color.

white
With one of my yahoogroups we have a yearly project. In 2010 it was a big one: the canal houses. They have been swapped although some are still in the mail. I must admit I have not yet started working on the assembling. After such a huge project, the project for 2011 is smaller. Every month we will make a block in a specific color. How big the block is, is up to the maker. How elaborate or how simple it is, the same. The color for January is white. I decided to make a simple lopsided log cabin using different white fabrics: pfd, commercial, silk and decorate it with white yarn. Here is the picture:
The reason that I keep it rather simple is that at the end of the year I want to use the blocks as a background for applique. I know how and what I want to do with them, but that is something I am not yet telling :-).
My blocks started out as 10"x10", only I made a measuring mistake and cut a couple of blocks 10"x9"from my stabilizer. That meant that I had to change all my blocks to 9"x9". The advantage of not having to swap :-).
