The quilt I started last week is done! If you compare this picture to the one of last week, you can see that I added more pebbles. It has been a long time since I made a quilt just for fun, but for this one I had no obligations at all, just the pleasure of designing and creating.
The black fabric is a commercial batik, the white background is raw silk and the red is hand dyed. Pebbles are shadow quilted while the white has been quilted with little circles, or to stay with the theme little pebbles. Size is 19"x19" (47,5x47,5 cm) and the title is 'One red pebble'.

one color

For the Dutch challenge group the present theme was 'all in one color'. Inspiration for my quilt came from a painting by the Russian/French painter Kandinsky and to be exact by his oilpainting Farbstudie Quadrate 1913 . Okay because of the theme my quilt has less colors than Kandinsky's work. And I found it easier to make smaller circles. This quilt is 20"x20" and to divide that by 5 is easy to do :-).
This time I did not use any handdyed fabric in it, but only batiks and other commercial fabric from my stash.

2 quilts finished

I finished working on 2 quilts today. Not a bad score :-). One quilt I cannot show you yet, as I want to enter it in a Swiss show and they have an internet embargo on pictures before the show. What I can show you is this one:
It was made for the theme: what makes you happy. There are many things who do, so I decided to pick on one and that was the butterfly. Background is quilted with butterflies. All the fabric - except for the black Kona is handdyed.

Now I only have to make a label for it, but I have not yet found a title for this quilt. By the way, size is 19"x19" (48x48 cm). It should have been 20"x20", but my ruler moved a bit when I was squaring the quilt:-(.

title?

The last couple of months I have been working on and off on this quilt. Now it is finished, only I still need a title. The quilt is made from white dupioni silk, hand made paper, bark, elk teeth and rattle snake bones. A collection of all kind of white stuff. Some words came to my mind which gives an impression of what I am after, but a definite title is not yet there. I have been playing with the words: white, desert, remains, sand dunes. The title ideas are at the moment: 'Bleached out in the desert' and 'White desert' and 'Remains of former life'. I still feel that the proper title is not among them. If you have an idea for a striking title, please let me know.

several quilts at the same time

Wright now I am working on 3 quilts at the same time.
For the Challengequiltgroup I did most of the background. Today I am putting the binding around it. After that only beeds have to be added and I cannot do that until they arrive.
For the c&g quilt I have designed the pattern for the quilting. On this quilt I will first do all the quilting and after that I will fuse applique the birds.
Than the 3rd quilt which is the final assessment for the Quilten Special course. I am making an ammonite for that. The sheers have been heated and placed on the background. So has the fabric layer on top of that. Now I am satinstitching all of this. But I am not completely happy with it. It is looking more dull than I had expected. Maybe I can improve on it with the quilting. If it does not, no harm is done because I have another idea in my mind. This quilt I intend to make anyway. Not sure now whether it will be as an assessment piece or not. The background fabric I dyed today and it is at the moment batching. With this quilt I want to use black mottled fabric, black and silver/white lutrador, Lumiere paint and quilting.
Of none of these I have pictures at the moment. They will come later.
