Cotton
For Voyage the theme for this year is abstracted nature and with a theme like that it can be difficult to determine how abstract will I make it. Do I still want it to be recognisable or do I go further? For this quilt I took an inspirational photo of a cotton seed pod and played a bit with it in Photoshop to create a starting point.
The fabrics I used are my own hand dyed and discharged ones with a little bit of raw silk. Funny enough I had to use this silk instead of white cotton as this was too smooth for the effect I wanted to create. Size is 17" x 24" and the - not very original - title is 'Cotton'.

Taiwan
The Taiwan Art Quilt Society organises an international quilt exhibition in April/May 2016. Voyage Art Textiles is one of the special group exhibits there. The theme for this coming show is protecting the Earth's environment. This is the quilt I made for this show:

Through
The March theme for Sky-is-the-Limit was 'through'. At first that gave me problems, because what can you do with this theme, but then I realised that I could take advantage of the sample I made for EB's masterclass. Her theme for March was lines. Using this sample I only had to add the oval and I had a suitable composition for the theme through. This is what I came up with:
All the fabrics I used are my own hand dyed or hand stamped ones. This quilt will be my contribution to the SAQA auction 2015.

Line
In EB's masterclass the theme for March was lines. This is one of the sketches I did for it:
Sketching is not my favorite way of spending my time (grin) and often it is only a starting point. As you can see the final result does not resemble the sketch a lot:
Size of this quilt is 40"x18". No title yet. If you have an idea, please let me know. On purpose I decided upon this size as I have another lines quilt which has that size. Is there a new series in the making?
As it is Friday I am linking this post to Nina-Marie's Off the Wall Friday.

Published
A couple of months ago I received an email stating that my quilts would be incorporated in a book. Apparently I had send in some, but I could not recall which ones, or for which book it was. On FB I read that a lot of people had the same problem :-). Or is it a sign of old age? :-). Anyway, today I heard that the book has arrived at my US address and now I know which quilts are in it. If you want to see them, or if you want to see a lot of eye candy. This is the book I am talking about: 1000 Quilt Inspirations by Sandra Sider. Here is a picture of the cover:
