Forest quilties

As you might recall I participated in Lenna Andrew's forest quilties swap and today the mail brought me 4 quilties from this swap.
The quiltie on the left is made by Darlene Kihne from South Dakota. What I love about this quiltie is that it has 2 layers. The top is a photo printed on extravorganza. this is attached with eyelets to a photo printed on silk. The quiltie on the right is made by Lise Saether from Norway. Lise used lovely autumn colors on it. Incorporating snippets of fabric and angelina covered with organza and free motion quilted it. The internet world is small. On Lise's blog I saw that she also participated in Kate's ALQS2 swap and the Textured Surfaces class given by Carol and Lynda.
The quiltie at the left is made by Marianne Baugher from Maryland. With the quiltie Marianne enclosed 3 little baggies with feathers, seeds and some snake skin (I think). A lovely thought. The quiltie at the right by Vicki Jones also from South Dakota. Vicki stitched yarn representing aspen trees on the quiltie. The fabric she used had photos of trees printed on it. Large sequins are the fallen leaves.
Thank you ladies for participating in this swap.

Quilties

At last my internet connection is running smoothly again and I can pick up blogging again. While I was 'away' I received my Shades of Sunshine quilties from the swap organised by Lenna. Here are the pictures:
The one at the left is made by Janice Perkin, the one at the right is made by Beverley Teichrob.

This left one is made by Sharon Schutt and the one at the right is made by Sue Lee. Aren't they lovely? With the swap Lenna also send some pieces of 'sunshine' fabric for which I will find a good place someday.

The new swap Lenna is organising is a Forest quilties exchange. I signed up for this one too. The quilties are due by the end of November, but I have finished mine. Here are the pictures:

As usual the swap is for 4 quilties, but I made a 5th one as hostess gift. They will go into the mail to Lenna today.

quilties and aspen

I am participating in another swap organised by Lenna Andrews. This time it is the Shades of Sunshine quilties swap. Each quilty is 6"x6"(15 x 15 cm) and as the name indicates only sun colors (read yellow, red, orange) can be used. The pictures show the ones I made for the swap (4) and one for the swaphostess Lenna.

Besides these quilties I also worked on my aspen quilt. This picture shows a detail of the trees. I did nog have a black Shiva paintstik so I used some other oil pastel stick to make the dark areas on the tree trunks. The quilting on the trunks was done with a black/white variegated thread, for the quilting on the background I used grey thread. Today I will add the binding to the quilt and than I will be ready to add the leaves. This sounds an unusual sequence, but it works for me:-).

quilties swap

I participated in Lenna Andrew's brown and robin egg blue quilties swap and this is what the mail brought me yesterday. These 4 lovely quilties are made by Val Duncan, Kara Klein, SaraEllen Davis and Andrea Millington. I find it always amazing how everybody interpretates and uses the colors in their own way. If you want to join in one of Lenna's swaps go to her site and check. She regularly opens new swaps. And I better start working because I am also participating in her Shades of Sunshine (yellow/orange/red) swap and I have not yet started working on those quilties.

quilties swap

As you know I participated in Lenna's shades of white quilties swap and this week I received my 4 quilties. Top row left, the beautiful lily is made by Sharon McGreevey. The one next to it has lots of seed beads and tiny handquilted stitched on it and is created by Susanne Wiebe.
Bottom row left is made by Amanda Smith. Her quiltie has different strips of lace, buttons, and handstitches. In the middle is machine stitched the word 'daisies' accompanied by a daisy left and right. And the fourth quilty I got is shown at the right. It is created by Janice Perkin and has lovely lace, ribbon, button and handstitches on it.
Thank you ladies for participating in this swap. I love them!

shades of spring quilties part 2

And here the the 2 other quilties I made for this swap. I finished them yesterday but Blogger did not allow me to post pictures. For these quilties I used handdyed fabric, small buttons and beeds. This swap is now completed. I can put them in an envelop and into my bag. As I will go to the US next month, I intend to mail them from there.

shades of spring quilties

Amongst other things I am participating in Lenna's creative swaps. This time it is 'shades of spring quilties'. Size of the quilties is 6"x6" and the colors to be used are brown and robin egg's blue. On the pictures you can see 3 of the quilties which are now finished. In total the swap is with 4 pieces. I make an extra one for Lenna as swap hostess gift. For these quilties I used paper, handdyed fabric, ribbons, buttons and printed fabric.
Further I have been thinking about an idea for Another Little Quilt Swap organised by Kate. I know who my partner is - but I cannot mention her name here :-)) - and what she likes/dislikes. This quilt has to be between 12"and 20". I will be using my own handdyed fabric for it. Background will be made from blue and green fabric and on top of that I will applique. For the applique I will be using green and red or orange fabric. There is nothing yet to show as I have not yet started to work on it. Pictures will come later.
